Occupational Therapist

Emma and Helen, Occupational Therapists

An Occupational Therapist (OT) supports you to maintain or improve your ability to do everyday activities so you can continue living independently.

They do this by exploring with you what you are finding difficult and identifying practical ways to help you. This could involve looking at assistive technology.

Some OTs specialise in helping people with particular health conditions. So the OT who supports you will depend on your individual needs and circumstances.

You may be referred to an Older Adult Mental Health OT if you have been diagnosed with, or are worried you may have, dementia. These OTs have specialist knowledge about dementia. They can aid in your diagnosis. They can also provide support to maintain or learn new skills which have been affected by your dementia.
