Dr Lawrie, Consultant Psychiatrist

A Psychiatrist regularly assesses and treats people with memory problems. If your GP feels it is appropriate then they may send you to a Psychiatrist for further assessment of any memory problems.

A Psychiatrist works closely with a range of professionals, including Dementia Outreach Nurses and Occupational Therapists. If you get a diagnosis of dementia, a Psychiatrist and the Nurses will monitor your condition. A Psychiatrist will recommend any medication that they feel might be helpful.
